Certified fire integrity according to DIN EN 45545-3 (E30)
In addition to raw material fire behaviour (HL3), railway engi neering requires reliable structural integrity at sensitive partitions, such as between the engine room and the passenger compart ment.
The spread of flames through the wall cut-out must be strictly prevented for a specified period of time. That is exactly why we offer our certified KDS-RAIL fire protection kits for all different frame sizes. With these customised add-on packages, your installations effortlessly achieve the E30 fire resistance rat ing (30-minute fire integrity) in compliance with the European standard DIN EN 45545-3.
Functionality in the event of a fire
During installation, the fire protection mat is mounted directly in front of the KDS frame on the side facing the potential fire. If the temperature rises above 200 °C in an emergency, the material reacts immediately: it expands rapidly, dramatically increas ing its volume to form a resilient barrier. The resulting expansion pressure forces its way into all cavities and completely encloses even melting cable sheaths. The special screws included in the kit guarantee that the frame remains securely in position even under extreme heat and heavy expansion pressure. The penetra tion is hermetically sealed and the breakthrough of fire is reliably stopped.
