Advantages of Cable Coils

Have you ever wondered if there's any difference between cable coils and cable reels?

Our cable experts take you through the advantages of using cable coils.

Cable coils are quickly becoming the preferred packaging format across electrical, construction and industrial sectors. Installers, wholesalers and site teams are re‑evaluating how cable is stored, transported and deployed — and many are discovering that coils offer significant advantages over traditional reels.

advantages of cable coils

1. Protected against water ingress:

Humidity and rain can warp packaging. Shrink-wrap plastic coils can withstand complete immersion in water.

2. Easy to use:

The cable freely unwinds from the coil without any knots or tangles, preserving the cable in perfect condition right down to the last layer.

3. Robustly packaged:

Cardboard and plastic packaging can easily break if dropped or damaged. Cable coils will withstand drops from a considerable height without causing any damage to the cable.

4. Environmentally Friendly

Shrink-wrap plastic produces much less waste once the cable is used up. The estimated cost of recycling carboard is 40% more than shrink-plastic for the same amount of cable.

5. Improved storage:

Shrink-plastic coils do not suffer any deterioration from stacking or storage. Other packaging may lose shape or break when stacked for storage.

A 200m coils (up to 1.0mm²) takes up same space as a 100m reel.
