Linear rails and guides

Linear guides are the important bits that keep everything in line and the machine accuracy perfect. Be it a relatively simple slide runner or a fully rigid carbon linear guide with ball screw movement and servo motor positioning drive, correct choice of unit for the application is essential.

Sugatsune and THK are the partners of choice for our linear guides and together are happy to discuss application details and characteristics, to ensure the right unit is specified.

From a cost-effective miniature linear rail and carriage assembly through to a full bespoke caged ball curved slide rail, we have the experience and know-how to select the products best suited to your application.

Typical applications for linear guides and associated products are:
  • CNC machine tools - high speed slides with rigidity accuracy to keep machine tolerances low.
  • Food production machines - Door openers and slides for smooth weight bearing movement
  • Robotics - miniature rails for grippers, heavy duty bearings for moving robot axis.
  • Automatic industrial doors - low friction slides for moving heavy doors with ease.
  • Process and packaging machinery - From miniature rails on hand driven trolleys to heavy duty guides on full production lines
  • Medical machinery - high accuracy and rigidity to keep resolution and accuracy high on scanners.
  • Automotive industry - large, long linear guides for automotive carpet cutting.

Sugatsune Linear Slides

Sugatsune's MLG, LGB, and MRS linear guide rails are precision-engineered solutions designed to deliver smooth, stable, and compact linear motion across a wide range of industrial and commercial applications. The MLG series, featuring a unique "multi-roller" mechanism, utilises aluminium alloy rails with anodised silver finish and is compatible with MLG-20C guide blocks. These guides support side, vertical, or horizontal mounting and are ideal for applications requiring high-precision movement, such as food processing equipment, vending machines, and medical devices. The MLGX25 models, constructed from 304 stainless steel, incorporate the innovative "Dual-X" design, facilitating loads up to 120 N (27 lbs) in any orientation and maintaining consistent movement even under moment loads. They are suitable for automated machinery, robotics, and analytical equipment, and have passed rigorous 500,000 cycle tests to ensure durability. The LGB series offers compact linear guides made from materials like polyacetal and stainless steel, with dimensions such as 11 mm width and 6 mm height, making them suitable for space-constrained applications. These guides are commonly used in precision instruments and small-scale automation systems. The MRS series, including models like the MRS40-400, provides ultra-miniature linear guides with a 40 mm width, ideal for applications requiring minimal installation space without compromising performance. Sugatsune's diverse range of linear guide rails ensures that designers and engineers can select the appropriate solution to meet specific load capacities, environmental conditions, and spatial constraints across various industries.
