AC Motor with Inline Gearbox

In line gear-boxes generally feature planetary or spur gear. Planetary offer central drive and spur gear-boxes generally have the output shaft off centre to allow for the gear interaction.

Both have their uses. Planetary is normally the most eficient and delivers the largest torque for a given size, where as spur gear-boxes are slightly less efficient and usually quieter by design.
