IDEM KLP-Z Lockable switch

The IDEM KLP‑Z series solenoid‑controlled safety interlock switches combine a rugged cam‑style tongue mechanism with highly secure RFID coding, tailored for plastic‑body guard doors on machines. Built to meet standards IEC 60947‑5‑3, ISO 14119, ISO 13849‑1 (PLe, Cat 4), and IEC 62061 (SIL 3), these switches feature 2 OSSD safety outputs and 2 auxiliary outputs for guard and lock monitoring. The units operate on 24 Vdc with typical current draws of 50 mA (control) and 500 mA when energising the lock solenoid, delivering a holding force of 2000 N and reliable locking retention (Fzh  1538 N) under ISO 14119. The compact polyester housing (IP67‑rated) is equipped with a stainless‑steel 316 rotatable head enabling eight actuator‑entry positions, allowing flexibility for heads-on or front-face installations. A choice of standard or flexible actuators is available, catering to various guard misalignments, and LEDs provide diagnostics on guard position, lock state, inputs/outputs, and fault until reset.

The KLP‑Z excels in safety‑critical applications such as packaging, robotics, and food‑grade equipment. Its slimline profile enables seamless retrofitting to 50 mm frame guard rails, while the interlock remains locked until both the RFID code is verified and the solenoid is energized, preventing accidental access during hazardous operation. The OSSD outputs support seamless integration with safety relays and PLCs in series chains, maintaining full PLe or SIL 3 architectures. With durable construction rated for 25 °C to +40 °C, vibration resistance, mechanical lifespan up to 2.5 million cycles, and M12 quick‑connect or conduit gland options, the KLP‑Z is a robust, configurable solution for industrial interlock safety across a wide range of machinery environments.
