Fuse links for semiconductor protection

Traditional protection methods often fall short, leading to potential system failures and costly downtimes. DF Electric proudly introduces its Rapidplus® SQB series—a line of ultra fast-acting fuse links engineered specifically to shield delicate semiconductor devices.

Operating at a nominal voltage of 690 V AC and spanning current ratings from 80 A to 1,400 A, the SQB family delivers rapid fault interruption and significantly minimises let-through energy.

Its innovative construction—blending compact solidified sand with high-purity silver—ensures excellent arc control and robustness under high breaking capacity demands.

Product news

Key Advantages

Lightning-fast interruption: SQB fuses act almost instantly, safeguarding sensitive power components like IGBTs, MOSFETs, and inverters from damaging surges

Minimal let-through energy: The design keeps thermal and electrical stress low, helping extend the lifespan of protected equipment.

Robust arc suppression: Silver elements combined with compact sand ensure controlled arc behaviour and support reliable high-current breaks.

Heavy-duty performance: With a breaking capacity rated up to 690 V AC (and applicable DC ratings), these fuses are well-suited for serious industrial, renewable, and OEM power systems.

Direct Microswitch Mounting

These fuse links can be equipped with a microswitch mounted directly on the fuse link. This optional microswitch enables remote electrical signaling of fuse operation, allowing integration into control and monitoring systems.

The microswitch is mounted securely on the fuse body and is activated when the trip indicator pops out due to fuse operation. This provides a reliable and immediate feedback signal, which is particularly useful in applications where fuses are not easily visible or where downtime needs to be minimised through real-time fault detection and system automation.

RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) Compliance

In addition to electrical performance, environmental responsibility matters. These fuses are manufactured in compliance with RoHS directives, ensuring no hazardous materials like lead, mercury, or cadmium are used.

IEC/EN 60269-1 and 60269-4 Compliance

These European standards define performance for low-voltage fuse links used in industrial applications. By aligning with these benchmarks, Rapidplus® SQB ensures high consistency in fault interruption, arc quenching, and operational safety across EU-based systems.

Total Cost of Ownership

Though high-speed fuses can vary widely in initial price, the Rapidplus® SQB series reduces total system cost through superior durability, lower maintenance needs, and fewer replacement cycles due to its rugged design and material efficiency.

Perfect Fit for Modern Power Applications

The SQB series is an ideal match for high-performance systems that demand ultra-fast protection like:

Industrial drives & power supplies: Including UPS systems, motor inverters (AC/DC), soft starters, and solid-state relays.

Renewable energy systems: Protecting photovoltaic inverters and battery storage units.

Welding & charging infrastructure: Offering reliable fault protection in demanding environments.

Why it matters

In high-power, high-speed electronics, delayed protection can cost both downtime and hardware. Rapidplus® SQB fuse links minimise fault impact, time and intensity, helping to prevent equipment damage, reduce outages, and support overall system dependability and efficiency.
