Screw jacks come in many forms. The basic principle of converting rotary motion into vertical or horizontal movement is always present, yet they can be as simple as a hand wheel driven single unit up to linked multiple motorized units lifting many tonnes whilst keeping the load stable and level.
The nut that travels up and down a screwed rod can be a relatively simple brass machined piece or a precise ball screw running on a machined shaft for high speed and 100% duty (continuous use), and motors are available in single or three phase AC, or DC for the smaller capacity screw jacks.
