These DEHN Type 2 & 3 surge arresters are modular, multipole devices engineered to protect low-voltage electrical systems from transient overvoltages and lightning-induced surges. Built to EN 61643-11 and IEC 61643-11 standards, they are suitable for both single-phase and three-phase installations, featuring nominal voltages of 230 / 400 V with a maximum continuous operating voltage (UC) of 275 V (L–N). Each unit can withstand a nominal discharge current (In) of 20 kA (8/20 µs), with short-circuit strength rated up to 50 kArms, and suppresses voltage surges to ≤ 1.5 kV at the protection level (Up). The modular construction spans 3–4 DIN rail widths (approximately 90 × 72 × 66 mm) and includes ACI (Advanced Circuit Interruption) or spark-gap protection modules with visible green/red fault indicators and remote signalling contacts for easy status monitoring.
These arresters are ideal for safeguarding industrial control panels, machinery, distribution boards, and junction boxes, particularly in TN‑S, TN‑C, TT, and TN systems. They protect sensitive electronics, PLCs, motors, and communication equipment from damage due to switching transients and indirect lightning strikes. Their modular, push-in terminal design simplifies installation and maintenance, while the ACI technology ensures automatic disconnection of failed modules, allowing safe online replacement without shutting down the entire system. Combining Type 2 and 3 capabilities in one compact unit makes them particularly valuable for OEMs and electricians seeking reliable, space-conscious and vibration-resistant surge protection .
